If you did not have one you didn't seem to exist.
If you connected to other NPO lists, you were advertising with your competition by giving them that website address.
So how do you do it with no money for what is usually quoted?
I sat down with what I felt were the headaches of a site:
The price of sites and small business and NPOs don’t have R1,000s lying around.
Are your paying for what is vitally important now? It’s more suitable to grow slowly into it and having a plan for the future. Let this be a priority and expansion a nice to have.
Tied into a contract... This is a headache when you are short a month and suddenly your site is cut off.
Tied into proprietary software… This means you are stuck with that service provider.
Annual or monthly payments. You don’t want to be thinking about your website, generally that budget goes somewhere is.
All the logistics. You must remember to pay what and when it is required. You want to spend your time selling or providing a service, not working out what you have to pay, when you don't have to.
Paying in advance.

Graphics. It’s insane for a site starting out. Worry about the basics.

You don’t know what you are getting and you definitely have no money to waste

When is it going to be completed?

You may be thinking that all these companies are doing their own websites on free websites. |
I can assure you in my attempt to find user-friendly software “make your site in 2 minutes” means the account only takes 2 min to open. I will guarantee that you spend more money designing it than the value of sales you can do. I have tried out many (probably every) free website. You may want to link to a domain address to find out you can’t.
If you are going to maintain your site you want something user-friendly.
|
You don’t need an email address now. You already have one.
|
Your site is big and if you are using a host you need packages that give you space.
|
Your already have your own address.
15 reasons, Why PYOT?
So, these are the solutions that I offer.
1
I am cheap. Compare my prices. Compare my sites and what I charge.
2
If you can’t afford something now, you can wait for when you can, but still have something good and simple to put-yourself-out-there.
3
There is no contract. Once the site is up there is not much to maintain. My fee is R1 per word or picture change. There is no paying me monthly, in case you want change something.
4
The website software is free. You just take over the account. The software I use is all free except MS and anti-virus.
5
There are no annual or monthly payments unless you want to pay for add-ons.
6
Logistics. There is nothing to remember to do.
7
I am not a graphic artist but I do what I can. I want my sites to look good. If you find my skills are not good enough I will refer you to an artist. However, I can offer examples where clients gave no graphics or I have changed it for them because it is not suitable for website quality. I do this in my own time not part of a paid service. I would rather under-sell and over deliver. Conveniently, if you want to take advantage of my service and still want new graphic art, you never need to visit my office. You can ask a graphic artist to help you in your area.

You DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE. Yes. Since I have used simple software some clients have looked at R7,000 sites and decided they want the same look for R2,000. My model of this website is to keep it basic and able to learn some tweaking in an attempt for entrepreneurs to be able to take this on. I may not be able to offer you what you were expecting. We work on the site for 7 days (I have to time my work) and you decide on the 7th day if you want your site. NO STRINGS ATTACHED. If you don’t pay on the 8th day I just close down the site. Those 7 days are extremely important so I can get your feedback to give you what you expect.
9
Doing your own “2 minute site”. The website design industry is huge. If everybody could do it there would be no demand. Another important factor is that a website has to make sense, be relative and easy on the eye. Not everybody has that ability.
10
If you don’t know where to start your site I have a form to complete. It is comprehensive and you full out what you can. This nice thing is, is that it can prompt ideas, as well as gives you a nice basis for a business plan or request for funding.
11
I just export the site to you. It appears, thus far, there is not enough to maintain for a client to warrant the change.
12
If you do want the site, you want something you can handle. I know what you can and cannot do or how to get it to do what you want, by using other software. I haven’t exported sites yet, but I will set up a Q&A for new site owners.
13
The website address I use for everyone is mine. It does not offer email addresses. If you would like to opt for one, you merely add that as an add-on. The same goes with the site address. They will end in my www.[companyname]pyot.biz address. Should you want your own www.[companyname].co.za you can have that as an add-on. If you only want www.[companyname].co.za with no email address, it can be easily linked to www.[companyname].co.za that forwards to www.[companyname]pyot.biz. It is all your choice.
14
Guess what happens when you use the free software? It stays on a Google server. When a host provides you with your domain address, they offer packages and space. You don’t need to worry about space unless you need it for something other than your site. I pay R10 per month.
15
If you want to keep your existing address, your existing host can link it to your new site.
|
Were you warned about the advertising on your site, or that you starting paying after 3 months? I bet not.
|
You are not sure what content you want to put in. where do you start?
